I’m Jay Gold, a 26 year old gender-fluid actor and lifelong drawer. My practice is anchored in the emotional body with its subtleties, fractures, and contradictions. Trained at the Victorian College of the Arts, I work across performance and drawing, two languages that have been with me since childhood.

My drawings are hand-built worlds which through line, shape, and distortion form surrealist dreamscapes and portraits. They balance order and chaos, mapping memory, sensation, and imagination. For me, pen on paper is never empty, but a pause, a breath, a possibility. Like performance, drawing is intuitive, immersive, and somatic, an echo of how the past loops through the present and how imagination reshapes what we know.

I practice every day, continuing to build both my portfolio and my actor’s body of work.

Everything on this website from my art, to the backgrounds and hand drawn titles are built and made by me. Artworks on this website are non digital drawings on predominantly 150-200gsm art paper with Pilot G-2 pen.
